Madryn Arms

Our local pub

The Madryn Arms in Chwilog is about a 20-minute walk from Ysgubor Degwm along quiet country lanes. The pub and restaurant were refurbished and reopened in 2021. The Madryn arms offer food seven days a week.

The Madryn Arms has a large beer garden and Madryn Bach (Little Madryn), initially part of the old livestock market at the back of the pub. The Madryn bach opens into the new courtyard – the perfect sun trap.

Booking for food is essential. You can book on the Madryn Arms website.

Dylans

Beachside Restaurant in Criccieth

Dylan’s is practically an institution in Criccieth! A stone’s throw from the beach, with incredible views out over the bay the restaurant makes the most of the iconic Art Deco-styled Morannedd building.

With a fantastic restaurant menu including local seafood, Welsh beef and lamb with a contemporary twist, as well as very well-conceived diner classics such as pizza, burgers, pasta and their classic Chicken in a basket. The menu really does have something for everyone.

Booking is essential and for summer dates it is advisable to book several weeks in advance.

Aqua

Beach Bar at Llanbedrog

Open 7 days a week in the spring and summer the fabulous beach bar at Llanbedrog is a very welcome oasis for breakfast or lunch. The menu is extensive with home-cooked local ingredients and the layout makes for an idyllic holiday spot.

There is a large car park (run by the National Trust) a short walk from the beach bar.

Dylans Boardwalk

Food Trucks in Criccieth

The food trucks on the Boardwalk in front of Dylans offer great seafood street foods and drinks. One truck is a bar offering a range of coffees, alcoholic and soft drinks. The other offers street foods such as Lobster and Crab Brioche Rolls with Fries, Fish Goujons and Fries and Seabass Tacocs.

There are tables set up along the boardwalk or you can sit on the beautiful Criccieth beach views across the bay and with the Castle sitting high above the town.

The perfect secluded getaway

We stayed as a family of five (2 adults, 2 young kids, and a dog) and loved every moment. The house is exceptional, it is a distance away from others - you find yourselves isolated (in the best meaning of the term), in a very quiet area and with an abundance of space to enjoy yourselves. The house is very well kept, extremely tidy and clean. It is stocked full of games, kids toys, fascinating books and films. The decoration makes you say “ok, I’m stealing this idea when I get home”. The swimming pool is fantastic. It would be hard to find something negative. As for the area - do try out the recommended fish+chips shop. You will love it. Everything we wanted to see was within a suitable drive for kids, and plenty of beaches were nearby too. The owner/host is very friendly, always accommodating, and extremely helpful in making the stay the best it can be.
